We’re fed up with seeing it in films and TV shows: a happy family having breakfast with a perfectly set table full of delicious food. And in these film breakfasts the famous pancakes are never missing. Truth be told, they are a delicious and versatile breakfast and best of all: super easy to make! In this article you will learn how to make homemade pancakes, both in their classic version and with a healthier twist (but just as delicious).
How to make homemade pancakes: classic American version
The classic recipe for famous American pancakes is very simple. We love it because you end up with a thick and lightly spongy batter ideal to be served with syrup, jam, chocolate, honey, ice cream or even fruit… let your imagination run wild!
Ingredients:
- 150 g of wheat flour or special cake flour.
- 1 tablespoon of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of baking powder
- A pinch of salt
- 1 glass of milk
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of butter
Instructions:
- Place the dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Mix well.
- Melt the butter. You can do this by placing it in a small glass bowl for 5-10 seconds in the microwave.
- In a separate bowl, mix the egg, milk and butter and whisk so they blend perfectly.
- Slowly pour the liquids into the bowl with the dry ingredients and mix well, making sure there are no lumps.
- Put a non-stick frying pan on the stove at medium-high heat.
- Pour a little of the batter into the frying pan to make the pancakes to your desired size (not too big usually).
- Wait for bubbles to rise to the surface, then flip the pancake and cook for another 10 seconds. Place the pancakes on a dish and cover them with a cotton cloth while making the rest.
Recipe to maje homemade pancakes: healthy version

- Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Here you can add spices to taste, such as cinnamon or ginger. Mix well to make sure there are no lumps.
- Put a non-stick frying pan on medium heat with a little oil.
- Carefully pour some of the batter. Cook on one side until the edges are golden, then flip.
- Serve and eat with fruit or anything you like. Enjoy!
